Create a Circle of Happiness

"Happiness resides not in possessions and not in gold, the feeling of happiness dwells in the soul."
Democritus (460 - 370 BC)

In my years as a professional psychic, teacher and Life Coach I have worked with thousands of people who are searching for their “life happiness” whether that be in a fulfilled and lasting relationship, enjoying family life, changing or succeeding within a chosen career, developing their psychic ability or simply just being “comfortable in their own skin”.

Throughout my experience I have come to the conclusion that happiness is not the end result in itself – the perfect relationship, the right house, the best car or job but in the journey itself.

In this blog I am going to set out some of the most reliable steps each of you can take to begin on your personal journey toward your own fulfilled state of happiness and I hope that when you read this you will appreciate that we do not have to live in this world in a state of unhappiness, but each and everyone of us can find and fulfil ourselves with a life that is rich, rewarding and full of happiness each and every day.

Take Action, Take Heart

Determine your personal “destination” You cannot start a journey if you don’t know where you are going or how to get there. Happiness lives in the meaning and purpose we find in our lives. Melt into the process. Enjoy the ride.

Find something to celebrate every day.

Be mindful of the good things in life surrounding you despite your worries or concerns. Remember your family, friends and acts of kindness. A smile or greeting from a perfect stranger. A beautiful sunset or your favourite song. Embrace the feeling it evokes.

Open your heart and forgive.

“Forgiveness is a funny thing. It warms the heart and cools the sting.”
This is one of my favourite quotes because when you harbour anger, resentment or emotional pain it is swirling around in your own mind and body but does not affect the person or the situation you are thinking about. So let them go and enjoy a path toward feeling lighter, freer, and happier. In the end, you could consider forgiveness the best kind of selfish act, as it benefits you as much as anyone else.

Give yourself credit.

Rather than focusing on what you haven’t achieved (and believe me, we all could create quite the list), why not focus on what you have accomplished and give yourself credit where credit is due? Right now, write down your successes, your favourite memories, and things you are thankful for. You can even project happy happenings into the future and write a cosmic order.

Colour Yourself Happy and Shake your Booty

Make a point of going into your cupboard and taking out your favourite item of clothing and thinking about how it makes you feel. The colour, the texture and how strong and confident you feel wearing it. Remember that exercise too is important for a sense of well-being in mind body and spirit, so schedule 30 minutes a day to get out there and shake it, baby! Walk, dance, run, jump up and down, twirl in circles… you get the picture :>)

Space Clearing

Get those unpleasant, little, niggly tasks done, now! Go on, I said now! They are sapping your energy and weighing you down. They are hanging over your head. Free yourself of this mental and physical clutter, and clear your space for happiness to come in.

Release the tension

Some of the best ways to release this physical tension are to laugh, chant or sing, breathe deeply, get a massage or take a walk. It’s important to take care of your body in whatever way works for you.

Pay it forward

Do one act of kindness each day for some-one. It’s that simple. Plant one seed of happiness – just one – and it has the potential to grow and spread. Watch happiness ripple out…

Be Grateful

We can be collectors of injustices – always feeling slighted, empty, or unhappy because of all the injustices (both real and imagined) that have happened to us. Or, we can count our blessings, feel joyful and happy, and cultivate gratitude. Every night before bed just remind yourself of what you have, food, shelter, clothing, or something more subtle like that bus which arrived just as you got to your stop, or a parking space on a busy road, or that smile you received from a stranger…

Create a Happiness Circle

Close your eyes and imagine yourself surrounded in a golden bubble of light. As you meditate on the word “Happiness”, watch your thoughts. Who or what comes to mind, that gives you that little bubble of pleasure. Vividly imagine whatever it is and then gently draw it toward you. Imagine it floating through the edges of your golden sphere and into your circle. Feel the pleasure and happiness that this image evokes and then take a deep breath and open your eyes.

For the rest of the day whenever you catch your thoughts or feelings affected by what is going on around you just for a moment close your eyes and see your happiness circle in your mind’s eye and feel the happiness it creates within, hold this thought smile to yourself and let all your fears melt away..
